I knew Coinstar machines would give you cash for your coins, but Coinstar charges a fee to do so. What I didn’t know was the other FREE options available.
A coworker of mine and I were discussing the pros and cons of buying music CDs and buying music from iTunes. During the conversation, he mentioned the Coinstar machines will convert your loose change to eCertificates to stores like Amazon, Borders, iTunes, and Old Navy. Unlike when you choose the cash option, selecting an eCertificate means you get 100% of the money you dump into the machine; Coinstar charges no fee to convert your coins to store credits.
So this past weekend, I gave the Coinstar machine at my grocery store a try:

I walked away with an iTunes eCertificate. I had $27.30 worth of pennies, nickels, and dimes (I didn’t have any quarters because they go toward laundry) that were just sitting around collecting dust, and now I have $27.30 worth of iTunes credit. Kinda like free music! Thanks, Patrick!
