The NBA Free Agents graphic gives analysts the ability to move free agents to team rosters and trade players between teams to illustrate how team salaries and salary caps are affected.
The analyst taps and drags free agents onto a roster, and the team’s salary and salary cap are automatically updated to reflect the addition. Free agents and regular players can also be removed from rosters.
Regular players removed from a team can then be added to another team’s roster using the team-logo pull-down to simulate player trades. Pulling down on the position header reveals buttons to display other positions.
Each time a player is added to or removed from a roster, the graphic employs a complex formula of variables to calculate the team’s new projected salary total and projected cap room.
